AMP is a collaborative community of laboratory professionals shaping molecular diagnostics and advancing patient care

 

Individuals functionally involved in the educational, medical, scientific, economic, and regulatory aspects of molecular diagnostics, including but not limited to pathologists, clinical laboratory scientists, technologists, clinicians and other health care personnel, government employees, especially those involved in regulation of the field, and professionals in the in vitro diagnostics industry, are invited to participate.


Individuals in certain industries or job functions may not be eligible to join AMP, either because their interests are tangential to AMP’s mission or they are not functionally involved in the field. AMP 2024 Membership Categories and Dues Rates

Regular Members (Not Otherwise Designated)

Regular Members are individuals involved in the clinical practice, educational, basic or translational research, economic, and/or regulatory aspects of molecular diagnostics, including but not limited to pathologists, laboratory directors, clinical laboratory scientists, informaticians, technologists, clinicians and other health care personnel, government employees, especially those involved in regulation of the field, and professionals in the in vitro diagnostics industry. Regular members are eligible to vote, to hold elected office, and to serve on AMP committees. Dues rate for Regular Members varies depending on the country of residence per the World Bank Country Classifications.

Technologist Members

Regular - Technologist members are individuals involved in the clinical practice and/or research aspects of molecular diagnostics whose primary duties involve bench work, developing and/or performing tests. While a large proportion of technologists possess a non-terminal degree, candidates for membership with advanced degrees may also qualify. Verification of eligibility from their supervisor/lab director via e-mail is required upon joining and renewing membership as a Regular - Technologist. Regular members are eligible to vote, to hold elected office, and to serve on AMP committees.

Early Career Members

Regular - Early Career Members are those who were Associate Members last year and are transitioning to Regular Member status. For one year, their dues are discounted by 50%. The Early Career membership is not available for new REGULAR members.

Associate Members (Fellows, Residents, or Students)

Associate Membership is open to Trainees (currently enrolled students, postdoctoral fellows, and residents). Associate membership carries all the benefits of full membership except holding elected office and voting rights in AMP elections. An applicant must provide a verification of trainee status from their Program Director or institution upon joining and renewing membership as an Associate Member. Verification of trainee status can include a simple letter from your Program Director, Teacher, or Faculty Advisor stating that you are enrolled in a program and are in good standing with your institution. Alternatively, a copy of an offer letter, acceptance letter, or some other form of student/resident/fellow status may be provided. Associate members in all categories receive free membership for the duration of their training (up to 7 years).

Emeritus Members (Retired Regular Members)

Emeritus Membership is open to Regular Members who are retired and are no longer receiving either full or part-time salary from an institution, company or organization. Candidates for this category must have been a Regular AMP member for at least the five consecutive years immediately preceding application for Emeritus status. Emeritus membership carries all the benefits of full membership except the ability to run for elected office or vote in Society elections.

  • AMP reserves the right to activate or inactivate memberships, in accordance with AMP Bylaws and Operating Procedures.
  • Professional recruiters are not eligible to join AMP.
  • Membership period is January 1 - December 31. There are no prorated dues rates.
  • Membership dues are non-refundable.
  • Country income levels are defined according to the World Bank Classifications.
  • Back issues of journals will be provided to new AMP members in qualifying member categories.
